WELCOME ABOARD THE SISTERSVILLE FERRY!
The Sistersville Ferry is the last operating ferry serving West Virginia and Ohio. It is the only ferry operating on the upper 427 miles of the Ohio River. It has provided over two centuries of transportation to the people and businesses of a 32-mile stretch of river not served by a bridge. The City of Sistersville owns the Ferry, but it runs with no monetary assistance from the city. It must be self-sustaining, it generates operating funds through fares, public and private cruises, grants, advertising, merchandise sales and donations. The Sistersville Ferry Board, created by city ordinance in 1992, conducts all business of the Ferry’s operation, maintenance, fund-raising and fiscal matters.
